µDist

Precision laser distance sensor with interferometer-like accuracy

The new DM-20 offers fast, absolute distance measurements with micrometre-level accuracy – over distances of up to 20 m. Unlike interferometers, it does not require a continuous optical path. Measurements can be taken immediately after an interruption of the beam, without the need for re-zeroing or re-calibration. This makes it ideal for large-scale dimensional checks, alignments and inspections of manufacturing components directly on the production floor.

Using a retro-reflective target, the device delivers an accuracy of ±10 μm + 1.5 μm/m whilst being compact, portable and safe (Class 2 laser). It connects via USB-C or Bluetooth and can operate for up to six hours on an internal Li-ion battery. Engineers can quickly check critical dimensions of welded frames, castings, machine bases or assembled modules directly via the OLED display without complex setup or environmental control. The distance meter bridges the gap between industrial laser distance sensors and laboratory interferometers, offering absolute accuracy, robust operation and mobility for real-world manufacturing, assembly and quality control environments.
